Cell functions vs. the Function of your Cell!
The organelles in cells have similar functions in an iPhone C
Cell Membrane- this organelle is like the plastic coating on the back of a phone because it is one of the layers that keeps the form of the cell and this plastic layer keeps the form of the phone by protecting it from breaking
Cell Wall- this organelle would be the case to a phone because it is the thick layer on the outside of a plant cell that keeps the structure of the cell and a case keeps a phone from breaking and therefore changing its shape
Cilia and Flagella- this organelle would be similar to humans because these outside strands help the cell to move and help the cell move liquid past them; humans move cell phones past liquid so that it won't harm or damage the way the phone functions
Chloroplasts- this organelle is Siri in an iPhone because chloroplasts takes water and carbon dioxide to make sugar and Siri takes information from your voice to come up with an answer or a website to get your answer
Chromatin- this organelle is like making specific albums for pictures because chromatin organizes and controls DNA and is very important to the cell and specific albums are a way to organize and categorize certain pictures that are important to the user
Chromosomes- this organelle would be similar to a photo stream because chromosomes are one strand of DNA and a photo stream is just many pictures that are not organized in any way
Cytoplasm- this organelle is similar to the background for the iPhone because cytoplasm is the liquid that holds everything in the cell and the background also surrounds every application on the phone
Cytoskeleton- this organelle is similar to the screen protector because the screen protector maintains the cell shape and it is the closest to the inside of all the shape protectors make sure that the screen which contains everything does not get damaged
Golgi Apparatus- this organelle can be compared to email because the Golgi apparatus packages macromolecules for transportation and emails package information to send to another person
Lysosome- this organelle is similar to the delete option of applications because lysosomes digest and kill cells like the delete button can delete applications
Mitochondria- this organelle is like the charger of a phone because the mitochondria is the power of the cell and the power for an iPhone comes from a charger
Nucleolus- this organelle is the App Store to an iPhone because the nucleolus produces ribosomes and the App Store downloads applications onto your iPhone
Nucleus- this important organelle can be compared to the Settings application because the nucleus stores DNA, which is essential to how the cell runs, and Settings also stores the information on how the phone runs
Peroxisome- this organelle is like the backspace button when something is typed wrong because peroxisomes digest fatty acids and the backspace button can digest what you say
Ribosomes- this organelle is similar to the Apps of an iPhone because ribosomes produce proteins and Apps produce games and useful information applications
Rough ER- this organelle is like the Call application on the iPhone because the Rough ER transports information and the Call app transports information via talking
Smooth ER- this organelle is the iMessage application of an iPhone because the Smooth ER breaks down proteins and the iMessage application breaks down a conversation into boxes
Vacuole- this organelle stores nutrients in a plant cell and it is similar to a hard drive in an iPhone because the hard drive stores all the information to the phone
